BIOCALF™ Plus is a high energy oral nutritional compound that is recommended to supplement milk feeds for calves. The combination of Dextrose and Lactose provide a source of immediate and long term sustained energy. The broad range of nutrients and minerals provide a balanced source of ingredients necessary in times of stress.
It includes Bovine Boost, containing five selected strains of non-antibiotic, live, naturally occurring micro-encapsulated probiotics, and a prebiotic yeast to boost the immune system and five enzymes to assist in the digestion process and gelling agent Guar gum to support digestive health.
Can be used for calves stressed due to transportation or feed changes due to poor quality colostrum, nutritional imbalances caused by overfeeding, inconsistent feeding times, abrupt changes in feed and poorly mixed milk powder.

DIRECTIONS: Prepare the required quantity of solution by thoroughly mixing 1 scoop (130gms) of BIOCALF™ Plus into 2 L of warm water (approx 37C). Feed as below according to severity of digestive upset.
Feeding milk or milk replacer should continue by alternating feeds of milk and BIOCALF™ Plus solution allowing 2-3 hrs between feeds. Total litres fed per day can be reduced by half after 48hrs.
ADMINISTRATION: Administer orally by drinking or via stomach tube when required. Prepared solution must be consumed promptly or refrigerated. Use within 24hrs of mixing.

Bovine Boost
A product from Probiotic Revolution https://www.probioticrevolution.co.nz that contain five selected strains of micro-encapsulated probiotic bacteria, a specialised strain of live yeast and five digestive enzymes.
Because the probiotic bacteria are micro-encapsulated, they can pass through calves’ stomachs undigested to get to the lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract where 75 – 80% of all mammals’ immune function arises. Here they proliferate, aided by the prebiotic strain of live yeast which provides a source of food for the bacteria.
By seeding the calf’s GI tract with these beneficial bacteria at times of disease challenges, the calf’s own immune system is helped by excluding harmful pathogens and boosting the immune system. This is called active immunity.

Guar gum
Guar gum is a galactomannan polysaccharide extracted from guar beans that has thickening and stabilizing properties useful in the food, feed and industrial applications.
Guar gum used in oral nutritional compounds;
increases the viscosity of the solution, resulting in a decreased rate of stomach emptying,
slows the passage and distribution of the solution to the small intestine, thus increasing the potential for absorption of nutrients,
increases the time that nutrients contact the absorptive surface of the intestine and provides a more constant influx of nutrients into the body, and
provides a "coating" effect on inflamed intestinal mucosa.
